Systems Theory which I have been utilizing consistently for over 25 years on every psychotherapy client that I see in may role as a system based family therapist, This approach is well respected since its initial roots in family therapy and is relatively simple in its application yet has infinite comprehensive applications. In many ways it reminds me of BodyTalk “Zone” Concept while exploring this genogram in right Brain application.
The following concept will be illustrated for deeper understanding of family constellation dynamics:
1. Multigenerational Genogram Review
2. Family Projection Process
3. Triangulation
4. Sibling Position
5. Family Fusion and cut off
6. Step/adopted/non-traditional/blended family dynamics
Students will have numerous practice opportunities with each other to complete BodyTalk Sessions with supervision as well as to explore and practice family system applications
New Format:
Family Systems Evaluation was conceived, approved and introduced to the BodyTalk community in 2008 as an opportunity to expand practitioner knowledge of complex family dynamics, the development of emotional sensitivity and the origin of dysfunctional, symptoms - across the generations! For me personally this course represents the culmination of my life's work as a mental health nurse, university professor and psychotherapist - combined with holistic inquiry leading to my BodyTalk career. As a novice BodyTalk practitioner, I began to integrate my family systems data collection and process tool - the multigenerational family tree or Genogram, into our traditional Protocol and Procedures, taking the BodyTalk session to greater height by exploring the depths. The energetic system philosophy of BodyTalk interfaces seamlessly with Family Systems Theory offering profound synergy. Since I have been completing this Genograms assessment tools on every patient for at least 25 years, and I have taught this content as a university elective - the concept of this BodyTalk elective course was developed and has recently evolved to its new open and expanded format.
The class is open to all BodyTalk practitioners whether you are a beginner with only Module 1 & 2 or an advanced PaRama Practitioner. The information and practice can be formatted to your specific need. You will experience how the structure of the Genogram acts, in essence, as a protocol itself with expanded opportunity for linking. Students in prior classes have experienced profound healing as they dealt with “mirror” issues discovered and diffused within the multigenerational complex, even if they don’t have extensive family data.
I also welcome the opportunity to be a resource person about your questions about mental health conditions, medication questions, dealing with sensitive client issues etc. Take this opportunity to utilize the knowledge gained form my over 30 years career in nursing and mental health. Feel free also to contact me for specific questions or personal exploration through distant or remote sessions.
